Get A Home Water Filter That Will Eliminate The Most Contaminates

By Jonah Perkins

There are a whole lot of home water filters out there and the last thing you want is to invest in one that does not remove as many contaminates as it should or one that is a lot of trouble to use. Some of the faucet connecting water filters can leak and be more of an annoyance in your sink than a help. Even some kitchen counter water filters can be a nuisance when they are hard to clean, hard to get filled up and have expensive filters that you have to change as often as you do your socks! Water filters are not all the same by any means.

Removing as many contaminates from your drinking water as possible is the whole idea behind getting a home water filter to start with. If you didn't get one that removes at least 99.99% or more, you are not getting the best percentage that you could. When you get a water filter that removes as many contaminates as possible, you also want it to be as convenient, as economical and as easy to refill and to clean as possible too. You want a water filter that uses no batteries or electricity and has filters that last a very long time before they need to be replaced.

There are the old bacteria threats that most people know could be in their water from time to time, but many people have never even considered that their water supply could also be contaminated with a relatively new threat involving drug residue. When people take medications, it ends up in human waste and we all know where that goes. However, when the water from that waste is cleaned and released back into the water supply, not all traces of drugs like sex hormones, antibiotics and mood altering pharmaceuticals are removed. It sound pretty disturbing and it should.

Sometimes well water can be perfectly safe to drink if it is in a remote area where exposure to pesticides or animal waste is pretty unlikely. However, if you live near fields that are farmed and pesticides are used, those can contaminate the ground water. If you live near fields where animals graze, that can contaminate the ground water too which eventually can get into your well water. When a well has been exposed to fecal matter either from humans or animals, you well can develop E-coli or Coliforms in the water that can be very hazardous to your health and cause illness and even death.

When all of these issues are taken into consideration at once, if you are going to buy a home water filter, it only makes the most sense to invest in the best one available to begin with. You will be more satisfied in the long run and have more peace of mind right from the start. After all, peace of mind about the water you are drinking is the sole purpose of having a water filter at home and having one that is second rate is not much better than not having one at all.
